Technician Support Worker

Location: Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, West Hill, Putney, London SW15 3SW

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £22,186.00 - £25,208.00

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) is a leading national centre of excellence, providing adult person-centred services that span the entire care pathway, from post-acute rehabilitation services to end of life care, for people with complex neuro-disability and their families, underpinned by a strong research and education programme.

The wheelchair & postural management service forms part of the business management service of the RHN. Its main aim is to provide high-quality wheelchairs, special seating and postural management services (developed through the application of biomedical engineering principles) to enhance the quality of life of those individuals accessing the service.

Main objectives of the technician support worker role are to:

  • Demonstrate an awareness of RHN’s objectives, and contribute to achieving them appropriately
  • Strive to improve efficiency in all areas of the role
  • Work as part of a team to deliver a timely and quality wheelchair and seating service to the patients of the RHN
  • Demonstrate the ability to reflect on practice with peers and supervisors, to maintain own knowledge base and to identify own areas for development

Key Responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Be responsible for an allocated work-load
  • Assist in the preparation of wheelchairs and associated adaptations as required for loan/assessment purposes
  • Manufacture adaptations and bed positioning equipment as prescribed
  • Maintain a safe working environment, and comply with health & safety regulations
  • Maintain appropriate, accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with policies and standards in both written and electronic format
  • Participate in regular service development meetings
  • Participate in mandatory training
