Rehabilitation Engineer
The Clinical Science and Engineering department at Salisbury District Hospital has been established in the provision of special seating and rehabilitation services for over 25 years. We are seeking applications from an experienced and motivated Band 6 rehabilitation engineer to provide specialist technical input into the Clinical Science & Engineering team.
This role is professionally managed within the Department of Clinical Science and Engineering at Salisbury District Hospital, with the day to day management provided through Medical Engineering and the services it supports, including the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Unit, Basingstoke Wheelchair Service and Swindon Wheelchair and Special Seating Service.
Ideally you will be registered with an appropriate professional body, for example the Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT), or willing to work towards this. Applicants should have relevant experience working as a rehabilitation engineer and be familiar with all aspects of working in a wheelchair and seating service. We are looking for someone who is flexible, with a professional attitude and good communication and teamwork skills. The role requires accurate assessment and prescription of wheelchairs, seating and accessories to a client’s individual requirements. The candidate will also use the mechanical workshop facilities to manufacture and adapt devices to address the client’s specialist needs.The ability to work alone to problem solve clients' requirements is essential.
A full driving licence is required to enable travel around the area covered by the services, with access to a suitable vehicle.
