Clinical Lead

Location: Lincoln

Hours: 37.5 per week

AJM Healthcare is a long established provider of wheelchair services to the NHS and private sector. We provide an integrated outsourced wheelchair service to NHS commissioners, designed to improve quality and provide a superior service user experience while reducing costs.

It is an exciting period of growth for the company with a new wheelchair service in Lincoln, which was established on 1st April 2019, providing NHS wheelchair services including clinical assessments, specialist seating, delivery, repairs and maintenance.

Please note: As an Independent Provider (IP) AJM Healthcare have access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) for all of our eligible staff working on NHS clinical contracts and any non-clinical staff who may be covered by a Direction Order.

The role: 
We are pleased to announce an opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Lead to join our Integrated Wheelchair Service (assessment, engineering and approved repairer staff all working in one service). You would be working from our service centre based in Lincoln and will be responsible for developing and maintaining the clinical foundation of the service. This will include compiling clinical policies and procedures and documenting protocols for clinical working practices. Evaluation will be ongoing to ensure that these reflect the needs of the service, the service user population, the commissioners and prescribers. You will ensure clinical competency and high standards of clinical practise within the wheelchair service in line with AJM policy.

The job holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision of therapists in the service. This may include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation engineers and assistants. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal empathetically with service users, relatives and carers are paramount in this position, and you will receive professional guidance from the Clinical and Service Leads.

Who we are looking for: 
Working in a collaborative environment you will have knowledge of a range of medical conditions and physical disabilities. You will have skills in complex assessment, intervention and evaluation, to apply to prescription of wheelchairs, seating and pressure relieving equipment. Using clinical reasoning and problem solving, you will develop specialist skills in the role.

The role allows the opportunity to maintain a manageable caseload whilst providing designated time to support and develop the therapists. You will work closely with the other clinical leads to deliver and evaluate the occupational therapy education and training packages to ensure the maintenance of strong clinical competencies within occupational therapy.
