An exciting opportunity has arisen for an occupational therapist or physiotherapist to join our established multi-disciplinary wheelchair service team and participate in shaping the future of the service. The post is primarily based at the Oxford Centre for Enablement (OCE), which is part of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. Appointments are carried out both at the Oxford Centre for Enablement and in the community, including people’s homes, day centres and schools, so applicants must have a current driving licence.
The Oxfordshire Wheelchair Service (OWS) provides wheelchair and mobility assessments and equipment to the population of Oxfordshire. The service covers adults and children who have permanent mobility impairments, many with associated complex postural management requirements. Equipment provided includes wheelchairs, pressure distributing cushions, specialist buggies, special seating and in-house custom made seating.
The successful applicant will have the sound clinical reasoning and problem solving skills necessary to develop the specialist skill set required for this role. They will be enthusiastic, dynamic and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a particular interest in working with wheelchair users and their families. The ability to be able to work flexibly and prioritise workload is essential.
