SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST/PHYSIOTHERAPIST - WHEELCHAIR SERVICES
Are you looking for a clinical post within a Wheelchair Service?
This post would suit a dynamic Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with previous clinical experience within a Wheelchair Service who is looking to develop further specialist skills. It is mandatory to be State Registered with the Health Professions Council, to be eligible to work for the National Health Service.
The Waltham Forest Wheelchair Service provides a wheelchair and specialist seating service to the clients of the London Borough of Waltham Forest. There are currently approximately 3,500 wheelchair users within Waltham Forest. The service includes a senior clinician/manager, who is an Occupational Therapist. with clerical and assistant support. Both physiotherapy and occupational therapy students are placed within the service. The service works with external contractors to provide rehabilitation engineering support and a second contractor to provide support services such as maintenance, delivery, storage etc.
The service is currently located in a purpose designed clinic within Whipps Cross University Hospital, a busy District General Hospital within easy distance of central London, and near a network of major motorways for easy access to other areas of the country.
The post holder is required to have specialised clinical experience to be able to assess and provide wheelchair and specialist seating for a variety of clients of all ages. Excellent communication and organisational skills are required to be able to work with clients, their families/carers and other members of staff. The service is currently managed within the Therapy Services.
You will be supported in your continuing professional development, through the Knowledge Skills Framework. Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust has a well established personal development review and supervision system.

Job title: Clinical Technologist (Rehabilitation Engineer) Trainee
Department: Oxford Centre for Enablement
Band: Band 5, £20,225 - £26,123, fixed term for 3 year
Rehabilitation Engineers apply engineering principles and technology in the provision of services to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities
The Rehabilitation Engineering team work closely with the Oxfordshire Wheelchair Service and the Specialist Disability Service, issuing both standard and custom built equipment.
We manufacture custom contoured seating systems for wheelchairs. Our range includes Lynx, carved foam and moulded seat inserts. In addition we supply moulded toilet seats for those people who are unable to be supported appropriately on standard equipment. We also specialise in supplying adapted mobile arm supports for people with motor neurone disease.
Rehabilitation engineering is changing to a state registered profession with a recognised training scheme. The trainee will undertake a competency based training programme which typically takes 3 years.
The training programme will consist of both on the job competency training supported by academic education at a university. The ongoing aim is the IPEM Diploma in Clinical Technology.
During the training period the trainee will be required to support engineers / technologists working mainly within the Oxford Centre of Enablement but also on outreach visits. It is anticipated that such support work would develop throughout the training period as the trainee gains experience.
This position will suit a person with an engineering background who is looking for a challenge within the healthcare environment. The post holder will typically require a HNC / HND in mechanical engineering, or preferably a degree (BSC, BEng) in Engineering or equivalent. Please note that the completion of all elements of the training programme will be required prior to registration with the voluntary register for Clinical Technologists leading to registration with Health Professions Council (HPC) when introduced. We are looking for a flexible and professional attitude with the ability to work in the service teams we support. All work will be completed under supervision.

Assistive Technology – Wheelchair & Seating
Clinical Scientist Band 7 – £26,926-£37,326 pa
This is an opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team with a leading international reputation for the provision of wheelchair and seating services. Assessing patient needs and prescribing, designing and modifying wheelchairs and seating systems, you will also be responsible for monitoring the in-house technical support services including repairs, refurbishment, deliveries, etc. Supported by a broad range of clinical, workshop, technician and IT resources, you will work closely with the Electronic Assistive Technology Service. There will be a commitment to service related R&D and teaching. The post is based at Ninewells Hospital and will involve frequent visits to home environments, schools and a wide range of clinical facilities throughout Tayside.

Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist, Worthing Wheelchair Service.
Are you an enthusiastic, well motivated therapist with a special interest in Wheelchairs and Postural Management?
Our team is looking for an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to work 37.5 hours per week within our team of Therapists, Rehabilitation Engineers and support staff at the Worthing Wheelchair Service.
The Wheelchair Service assesses and provides suitable wheelchairs and associated seating for all people with a long-term condition, which impairs their ability to walk. The post holder will be responsible for a complex caseload, including EPIOCs, and have the opportunity to develop skills in postural management. You will be supported by the existing Specialist Therapists and participate in the ongoing service review and exciting developments.
You should have established specialist therapy skills, some of which should be in the physical field, with experience in wheelchair prescription.
You will receive regular formal supervision, have access to Therapy focused internal and external training and will be involved in continuing to develop evidence based practice within the Wheelchair Service.
Car driver essential due to community focus of job.

Senior Rehab Engineer - Disablement Services Centre, Plymouth Teaching PCT

An exciting and newly created full time opportunity has arisen at the Plymouth Disablement Services Centre for an experienced Rehabilitation Engineer to compliment our existing wheelchair and special seating team.
Based at Plymouth DSC, a purpose-built facility with full support services, you will be working in a truly multi-disciplinary environment under the clinical direction of a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine. We provide wheelchair and special seating services to Plymouth, West Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly; extensive travel will be required within these areas, so it is therefore essential that you hold a full and current driving licence.
Degree qualified, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, you should be on, or be eligible to join, the voluntary register of clinical technologists.

PROSTHETIC AND WHEELCHAIR CENTRE - REHABILITATION ENGINEERING MANAGER

Due to retirement an exciting opportunity has arisen at the Prosthetic and Wheelchair Centre for an experienced Rehabilitation Engineer. We provide a specialist service to people of all ages with mobility problems requiring artificial limbs, wheelchairs, special seating and associated equipment.
The role includes management of a team of Rehabilitation Engineers and attendance at clinics, user’s homes and other wheelchair services within the Merseyside area to provide scientific and technical input into the selection and adaptation of mobility equipment to suit the individual user’s needs.
Team work with the Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Therapists and Prosthetists etc is an essential part of the role. The post holder is also responsible for providing a quality assurance service for the repair service and prosthetic contractors.
We are looking for a candidate who is able to work on their own initiative, has excellent organisational and communication skills and has the ability to lead/manage a team of Engineers. As a minimum you must have a HND or equivalent and 5 years relevant experience and must be on/or eligible to join the voluntary register of Clinical Technologists. A full clean driving licence and access to a suitable car is essential.
