Rehabilitation Engineer

The West Sussex Health Wheelchair Service are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Senior Rehabilitation Engineer to lead on rehabilitation engineering within the Wheelchair Service.
This post holder will work across West Sussex in patients' homes, schools, nursing homes and community settings as well as in the Wheelchair Services, which are currently situated in Bognor, Horsham and Worthing. Additionally, it is envisaged that the post holder will develop strong links with the specialist paediatric Rehabilitation Engineering and Therapy Service at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services with the view to specifically utilising or developing skills in specialist seating. The post holder will provide technical and engineering specialist expertise within the wheelchair service to ensure clients are provided with equipment that is appropriate to the function, prognosis and environment, ensuring the equipment is of an appropriate quality and is provided within agreed delivery times, while representing value for money.

Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Associate

Description: We are looking for an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist with experience of, and or an interest in, Wheelchair seating/Posture management and allied areas, such as wheelchair controls and moving and handling, to work as a self employed Associate.
The role will give you the opportunity to use your skills to find innovative and creative solutions to meet client needs. You will be required to carry out needs led assessments for wheelchair users with complex clinical needs, identifying potential solutions. This will then lead to liaising with equipment suppliers, as necessary, to carry out product trials resulting in a detailed specification.
This opportunity would suit those who wish to extend their professional experience into the private sector and gain autonomy in personal case management.

The Oxford Centre for Enablement provides a concentration of expertise in a way that makes the best use of resources, specialist skills and advanced technology for people with disabilities from Oxfordshire and beyond. The Specialist Disability Service (SDS) is an established tertiary service that consists of experienced professionals who specialise in the management of people with complex disabilities providing comprehensive holistic assessment and assistive technology.
We place a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and continuing professional development, which is supported by active education programmes, individual performance reviews and professional supervision by experienced staff.
For this exciting opportunity to work in an inspiring and unique service we are looking for a person with a high level of clinical and communication skills, and enthusiasm for working within the field of complex disability. You will be working with a team of highly specialised clinicians e.g. Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapist and Clinical Engineers. Your primary responsibilities would be clinical and key tasks include:
- Assessment of clients of all ages with complex disabilities (mostly neurological)
- Provision of advice and recommendations for both adults and children particularly in the field of 24 hour posture management
- Full involvement in the assessment and provision of customised seating systems for people with complex postural presentations
- The service is a tertiary service and as such you will be travelling to various parts of the country to carry out assessments in the environment most appropriate for the client.
Clinical experience of working with people with complex disability and experience of working within the NHS will be essential for this post. Post graduate training in posture management will be preferable.

Principal Bioengineer
WESTMARC within Southern General Hospital, Glasgow

Rehabilitation and Assessment Directorate
£29,789 - £39,273, 37.5hrs
This is an opportunity to join an expanding multi-disciplinary team which provides services from clinics within WESTMARC and at several outlying clinics to 45,000 patients. Seating for postural management, equipment for pressure sore prevention and specialist controls for powered mobility are included. The team works closely with other NHS departments, education, social work and vehicle transport organisations. This service is integrated with other WESTMARC based services including environmental controls, prosthetics and gait analysis. There will be opportunities to undertake research and development activities to enhance service delivery and develop consistent practice and knowledge across Scotland. This may involve liaison with universities, manufacturers and other wheelchair and seating services.
You will be a State Registered Clinical Scientist, ideally with a first or second class Honours Degree in Engineering. You should also have good communication skills and be able to problem solve using your experience and engineering skills. Experience in the field of rehabilitation technology would be an advantage, as would experience of working with individuals with disabilities. A driving licence is essential. Applications from candidates working towards State Registration are welcomed, but may be appointed on a lower band commensurate with experience.
